“Past Life” – A full length film by Avi Nesher

Avi Nesher’s “Past Life” is a period drama taking place in 1977 communist Poland.
These songs are played by the films charachters in an underground club, where young musicians play western disco music to protest the communist regime.

The first song is a disco interpretation to the classic music piece “Thus spoke zarathustra” by Richard Strauss (Known for “2001: Space Odyssey” opening title).
And the second one is a polish original song, written to the melody of american folk song “John Barleycorn Must Die” by Traffic.

Avi Nesher is a well known Israeli director, known for many Israeli classic films such as “The Band” and “Turn Left at the End of the World”.
